Art from the Ice Age

The works of award winning photographer and visual artist Juha Metso are shown for the first time in Austria. The 48-year-old Finn works intermedial, also as press-photograph for the renowned newspaper „Helsingin Sanomat“ (Helsinki). „My brush is my optic,“ says Metso. His works hang in all the major Finnish museums. He worked in more than 60 countries around the world, including many war- and crisis-countries. His current series „Jää Jää – Eis bleib – Ice Stay“ takes the viewer into a snow and ice-covered world, in a new photographic staged Ice Age. An apocalyptic mood in black and white, life-threatening, inescapable and much more powerful than mankind can ever be.
The exhibition is part of „Finnland.cool-Festival“ of the Austrian-Finnish Society Vorarlberg in cooperation with the Gallery Lisi Hämmerle.
